Our Services
From writing and editing to workshops on media training and media literacy, we come with combined decades of experience, award-winning talent, and a grounded approach.
Writing, editing, &
research

As journalists, writing, editing, and research have been at the heart of our professional lives. You want practising journalists on your communications projects because your projects will not only look and sound good — they'll also stand up to scrutiny. Whether the project is big or small, we bring the creativity and flow of feature writers, the critical eye of investigative journalists, and the on-the-spot thinking of daily news reporters. As multimedia journalists, we can complement our writing and editing work with photography, as well as basic audio and video work.
Our work in this field includes:
Website, blog, and newsletter content writing
Social media strategy and writing
Media strategy and news release writing
In-depth research and internal or external reports about issues important to your organization
Ghostwriting and speechwriting

Media Training

As layoffs become more and more regular, the ability of media to cover various issues wanes. How do you capture the attention of media when newsrooms are hit with waves of information, only a fraction of which they can parse and publish in their various outlets?
Our media training workshops include:
The full workshop: Two three-hour sessions, either packed into one day or spread out over two days. From news release writing to understanding the kinds of stories the media pursues, our first session goes over how to get the attention of news outlets. Once you've got their attention, what do you do? Our second session focuses on exactly that, from your rights as a source, common practices among journalists and newsrooms, and how to ensure you are as prepared as you can be for any situation.
One of the above: Feel confident in your ability to speak to the media, but not sure how to get their attention? Or, otherwise, you know you've got good stories to tell, but you're not sure how to tell them? We also run each of the above workshops as standalone events.
The condensed workshop: Maybe you've already done media training, or you've got a decent idea of how to approach and speak to the media, but you need brushing up. We also offer a condensed workshop, squeezing both into one four-hour session.

Media Literacy

Together, we have decades of experience in media — and counting.
We are all practising journalists, meaning our understanding of the media landscape is not based on outside observations and theory alone. It is a perspective grounded in the current media environment, one that we navigate in our day-to-day lives.
The media is not a static entity. It is a dynamic system that is particularly vulnerable to the crests and troughs of the economic reality it is situated in.
Our three-hour media literacy workshop asks: what is the responsibility of the media consumer in today's reality? How can you pick through media to tell what's true and what's spin as bad actors seek to sow fields of doubt into the public discourse?
